I awoke happy each day
Surrounded by pleasures.
Went to bed satisfied
Dreamt about angels at night.
As I awoke the next morning,
Calm, cool ,rested, without fear
Of the day that lie ahead.
Anticipating the future without care !
My memories are dear to me,
The beautiful stories of the past.
Tenderness fills my heart,
And I possess no regrets.
Oh,the beauty, the smiles,
The caresses of youth, the hopes!
All the things that seemed eternal,
They fueled my days, renewed my hopes,
But suddenly a change occurred……..
I still loved the past,
But frightened by the present,
Because the future brings death.
On the other hand a good life I had.
I’m still living, alive and well,
As the saying goes.
Live every day to the fullest,
Until the final farewell.
As the day brings the next tomorrow,
The promise of more joy than sorrow,
Keeps me in the straight and narrow.
So as I turn in for the night,
I anticipate a fine day tomorrow.
Thanking God and my friends for today
And also for the thousand yesterdays.
Whatever the future brings
It’s worth dying for, but not today
Not yet anyway.
